Here we are, our first picture together as home owners! We went out yesterday to get the keys and do the official walk through with our realtor. I actually didn’t carry my camera around for most of it. We have to get our stuff in there (next weekend) and in January we want to paint, and then I’ll take more pictures of the inside. Here are a few I got of the outside. (Click to see them bigger.)
There is a post already set up for two swings or a tire swing. They left behind a toddler swing too, so we had to try it out. They also left us the trampoline, which is a really great, huge, springless trampoline. Meredith had a blast on it after she discovered it. We almost couldn’t get her off of it when we had to leave!
Down behind the house there is a fire pit set up, with a circle of logs all around it.
A river running in the park behind us, and a view of the house from the corner of our property line (though behind that is just more of the same: trees and brush. To the left of the house above is a cleared, mown area. It’s the only even remotely landscaped area right now. If it gets enough sun, we might set it up as a small orchard and the garden. Otherwise it will likely be where we put chickens. We won’t decide for sure until this summer when we see what areas get the most sun and where the best spots for gardens would be. Right now there’s a (run-down) greenhouse and a fenced in small garden to the right side of the house (viewed from the back), which is technically the south-east side, but because of all the trees I’m not sure that it would actually get much sun.
After we did the walkthrough inside with our realtor, Meredith immediately asked if we could go outside and explore. It’s pretty wild right now, and parts of it are swampy, but I think the kids will have a blast here!

Congrats! It looks absolutely amazing!
It looks wonderful! That wooded area is a child’s wonderland- and the log circle is something I’ve been wanting to do for years. Congrats and best wishes on your move!
I can only echo others’ comments — wow, amazing, wonderful!!
